This is an exciting time to join our team as we focus on our vision to become a net-zero carbon regional airport group.  We are working with a number of aviation partners to decarbonise scheduled flights within Scotland to support the Scottish Government’s target to create the world’s first net-zero aviation region by 2040.

HIAL is the lead partner in the Sustainable Aviation Test Environment (SATE) Project – creating the UK’s first operationally based low-carbon aviation test centre at Kirkwall Airport on the Orkney Islands.  The project has already hosted trials od exciting aviation technologies including low-carbon aircraft and UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), demonstrating how they can be used to meet the needs of real-life use cases. SATE provides the blueprint for net zero regional aviation, placing the UK at the forefront of the transition to low carbon aviation.

The position of Head of Environment and Sustainability is a newly expanded role and will be pivotal in delivering our environmental objectives.

Working alongside the Senior Leadership Team and Senior Management Team, the Head of Environment and Sustainability will have the autonomy to influence and shape how we meet the environmental priorities within our Strategic and Covid-19 Recovery Plan.  A key element of the role will be to actively promote sustainability and ensure a positive attitude towards the environment.

We are looking for an individual with a proven track record in developing environmental strategies.  You will be the Company focal point for environmental and sustainability matters, always promoting excellence. This will involve working closely with regulatory bodies, members of staff, partners and external agencies, and contracted service providers.
