Chief Executive (RCET)

Thank you for your interest in the post of Chief Executive of The Royal Caledonian Education Trust.

The Royal Caledonian Education Trust (RCET) is Scotland’s Armed Forces Children’s Charity. Founded in London in 1815 we have over 200 years of experience in supporting Armed Forces children and their families to reach their full potential. Since 2016, the charity has been headquartered in Edinburgh so that we can better meet the needs of Armed Forces children, young people and their families.

Since our permanent move to Scotland, the charity has seen significant success growing and developing considerably: we have launched new services and programmes, doubled the workforce, and made significant headway into the ambitions set out in our first 5 year Strategic Plan (2018-23).

Due to the retirement of the current CEO, this role comes at an exciting juncture in RCET’s development giving the right candidate the opportunity to lead the charity at a time of considerable change and expansion for the organisation.

The successful candidate can look forward to leading a dynamic team into the next stage of RCET’s development including the implementation and management of new services, changes relating to our branding and messaging and embarking together, on the next organisational strategy.

Our ideal candidate should be an ambitious and supportive leader with an ability to form strategic partnerships which will help us to achieve our mission. We are looking for somebody with real passion about supporting children and young people with an understanding and knowledge of developing and managing services for them, and the challenges that this brings.

If you believe you are our ideal candidate, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Malcolm Noble

RCET Chairman
