I’m now nearly 6 weeks into my new role and although its been a very different start to my new career than I could ever imagine, I’m pleased I made the move. Despite all the disruption that C19 brings, there is still plenty of demand for my skills and numerous opportunities for me to use my experience in my new role. The reason I’m writing to you both is to say a heartfelt ‘thank you’. “The Rock Trust was set up over 28 years ago with a main purpose of supporting young people to avoid, resolve and move on from homelessness. We are a Charitable Organisation, based in Edinburgh with an income generated from delivering local authority contracts, funding from grants, donations and fundraising activities. We have grown and now employ over 40 staff who have delivered services for more than 500 young people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless so far this year, with demand/need constantly increasing. The Rock Trust approached Aspen to help them resource new Board members. Members of the Board and Executive met with Steven Murray who talked through the process and agreed to start the search. During the process, it became clear that Aspen were focussing on providing a high level of service and good levels of communication, keeping all stakeholders updated as to their progress and any potential challenges. At the review meeting, Aspen had produced a review list of all applicants, detailing backgrounds and any pertinent observations. Once all prospective candidates were assessed it was clear that not only had Aspen produced a considerable volume of high quality applicants, they had really focused on quality, ensuring all potential trustees were met, assessed and given the right level of due consideration. This feedback allowed us to make informed decisions about which candidates to consider and also any particular areas to probe during interview. Following this meeting multiple interviews were arranged, with all the administration dealt with efficiently by Aspen, taking a lot of the burden away from the Rock Trust, as there were multiple candidates interviewed over multiple days, by different panels. The calibre of potential Board Members presented allowed the Rock Trust to ultimately recruit board members with the skills required. Throughout the interview process, candidates spoke highly of Aspen, their assistance, guidance and process allowing each candidate to represent themselves to their best ability.
