About St Giles’

St Giles’ Cathedral is The High Kirk of Edinburgh and has been a site of worship for over 900 years. St Giles’ is a Church of Scotland congregation and worships according to the Presbyterian tradition. We welcome people of all faiths and none to enjoy the peace of the building and participate in our services, concert programme, and community events. As a living church we aim to be welcoming and inclusive, offering an engaging experience that uplifts and inspires all who visit.

St Giles’ Cathedral is an exciting and dynamic place to work. Alongside our regular services of worship, St Giles’ Cathedral hosts a range of city and national civic ceremonies, including the ‘Kirking’ of each new council and Scottish parliament session, the laying-in-rest of her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth, and the presentation of the Honours of Scotland to His Majesty King Charles III. Our music programme engages high-quality international performers and emerging musicians from Edinburgh University and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, inviting leading organists to perform on our fabulous organ and choirs from across the world to enjoy singing in the acoustic of St Giles’.
