The Role
Cairngorm Mountain Scotland Ltd.
Chief Executive
Salary: £85k, relocation package available
Location: Aviemore
Famed for nature, hillwalking and snowsports, Cairngorm Mountain Estate is both an environmental asset for Scotland and one of the country’s key visitor attractions.
Cairngorm Mountain (Scotland) Ltd (CMSL) operates the mountain resort as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Highlands and Islands Enterprise, which owns the estate on behalf of the public. CMSL is overseen by its own board and manages the diverse range of offerings that thousands of visitors enjoy each year – from ranger services to catering and retail, and access to the mountain for sport and leisure in every season. We are seeking an inspirational and experienced Chief Executive to lead the design and implementation of high quality business strategies and plans that will grow the business sustainably and benefit the local economy and wider tourism and snowsport sector. The CEO will effectively and efficiently manage business operations on a day-to-day basis, supported by a highly motivated and skilled team, and will have exceptional people handling and communications skills. Building trusting relationships with key partners and stakeholders in a regional and national context, and with the local community around Badenoch and Strathspey will be critical.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate proven hands-on management and leadership experience at senior level, with strong customer focus and the highest standards of professional excellence. We would also like to see significant experience of working with a board and leading, motivating and managing a delivery-focused team. Strong commercial focus, awareness of environmental issues and ability to make high quality investment decisions will also be important. Experience of working in/with innovative businesses in tourism and leisure sectors would be advantageous but not essential.
