Welcome to The EDI Group Limited
Position: Senior Development Manager
The EDI Group Limited is a property development and investment business based in Edinburgh. Established in 1988 by the City of Edinburgh Council, EDI is a private company, owned by the Council and run as an arms length operation.
Over the past 24 years, EDI has successfully managed property assets and developed land and property, either on its own or through joint ventures with developers, land owners, local authorities and other public sector bodies.
The Council has recently undertaken a rationalisation and restructuring of its arms length property operations. As a result, EDI is now being reconstituted as the Council's main property development company, with shareholdings in the Council's other property related companies being transferred to EDI. The two main objectives of the restructured group are:
- To realise value through investment in and development of Council surplus assets; and
- To provide a mechanism through which the Council can deliver the physical development aspects of its regeneration strategy.
The Role
The Senior Development Manager will strengthen EDI's development expertise with an initial focus on managing the delivery of the Craigmillar and Granton projects, but also contributing to the company leadership as part of the senior management team. It is an outstanding opportunity to have an impact on the life and economy of the City.
Further detail on the role can be found below:
The Projects
Craigmillar
Originally established as a joint venture between the Council and EDI, Parc is leading the physical regeneration activity within the Craigmillar area. Parc has been highly successful in focusing on the physical regeneration of the area, delivering two new primary schools, residential development and enabling the refurbishment of the White House, a local art-deco landmark. Currently Parc's main focus is to deliver a new town centre with improved retail facilities, over 300 new homes and provision for a new community High School. Beyond this Parc's goal will be to complete the two residential masterplan areas of Wauchope and Greendykes.
Granton waterfront
Waterfront Edinburgh Ltd was set up in 2000 by the City of Edinburgh Council to promote sustainable economic development for Granton Waterfront and in doing so, helping to create a sense of place. Significant potential remains for both residential developments along with commercial and leisure opportunities which together will bring this area into the mainstream of Edinburgh life.
City Centre
EDI is currently leading the process of preparing a master plan for an 8 acre site in Fountainbridge. This has the potential to be one of the most exciting developments in Scotland in the next few years as the focus will be on delivering place making to match both the best of Edinburgh's New Town and the best in contemporary European city living. EDI is also progressing a planning application for a gap site in the Old Town. Aiming for a site start in early 2015, the proposals for a boutique hotel on Market Street will complete the historic sky line of the City.
