Deputy Principal

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the Deputy Principal job here at Moray College UHI.

We’re based in the ancient cathedral city of Elgin, and very much embedded in our local community in Moray, but we’re also proud to be part of the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI), a dynamic and connected partnership made up of nine colleges and four specialist institutions that cover half the landmass of Scotland.

Moray is a great place to live, to study and to do business, with good transport links east and west to Aberdeen and Inverness. It is known for its outstanding and varied scenery, its distinctive heritage and recreational opportunities, and for the quality of life that the region offers. Moray is also a very connected place and as Deputy Principal you’ll have oversight of how we use our ‘connectedness’ with schools, with employers, and with our Moray Community Planning partners to ensure that we deliver the right services for our community in the best way.

The mission of Moray College is one of transformation: transforming lives, and being at the heart of transformation in Moray, and in the wider region. Transformation starts with ourselves though, and as a college we’ve overhauled our curriculum and our quality assurance systems to enhance the student experience and to ensure that our student performance sits consistently above the Scotland average.

We’ve been leading some exciting developments within UHI’s higher education provision, and we’re also leading key projects within the Moray Growth Deal that will impact significantly on our work both as Moray’s community college, and also as the ‘physical manifestation’ of the university in Moray. The Growth Deal will provide us with two new centres for training and research and is engaging us in significant developments in curriculum areas including Business, Engineering, Health and Care, and the Performing and Creative Arts.

As our new Deputy Principal you’ll have a key role in progressing these developments and in shaping our next strategic plan to deliver this exciting future. You’ll line manage our academic Heads, and you’ll also work closely with colleagues across the university to ensure that we play our full part in an aligned regional offer, as well as prioritising and meeting the needs of our own community in Moray.

As a member of our Strategic Leadership Team you’ll be fully engaged in developing and delivering the whole strategy to take us to where we want to be. What you do, and the way you do it as part of our team, will facilitate the development of our curriculum, teaching, culture, partnerships, and sustainability. It will help make us the college and university that we know we can be.

If this sounds like a challenge and an opportunity that you’re up for, then we’d love to hear from you.
