Welcome

Introduction

This will undoubtedly be my most important hire for 2017 as I seek a Director to lead Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company (SBMC). This exciting new division needs a Director who is able to articulate vision and direction, galvanise pan-organisation buy-in and create a totally new social enterprise delivering social value. Although reporting directly to me, the Director SBMC will very much have a significant external facing role, with a wide range of political, commercial and charitable stakeholders and will be supported by a Non-Executive Advisory Board based in Scotland.

RBLI is now 2 years into its ambitious strategy of Improving Lives Every Day. The plan focuses on investment, innovation, growth and diversification aiming to reach more beneficiaries and extend our national reach. We have achieved enormous success on the strategic initiatives across all 3 of our current operating divisions within RBLI; RBLI Living which leads on all services for veterans; Britain’s Bravest Manufacturing Company which is a social enterprise for veterans and others from the wider community and Employment Solutions which delivers a range of employment and national assessment programmes for the wider community.

In addition, we have a newly formed marketing and fundraising division which is driving forward our strategy with both profile raising and funding. The opportunity to work alongside Erksine to replicate our successful and dynamic community for veterans in Scotland has been compelling. Alongside Erskine’s plans to build single living accommodation and an activities centre; SBMC will provide the employment pathway for veterans who have found significant challenges when attempting to return to the workplace.

I am seeking a Director of Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company who has the vision, leadership and passion to establish something special and the commercial acumen to create a sustainable business model which in turn provides the social value. The successful candidate is likely to be on an upwards curve of career progression and have the potential to be a top rate Chief Executive of the future. This is a demanding post in a fast moving Charity.
