About Us
Ulster University Student's Union (UUSU) is a membership-led organisation which represents over 26,000 students across the Belfast, Coleraine, Jordanstown and Magee campuses. All Ulster students are automatically a member of the Students’ Union and we are the lead representative voice for students at Ulster.
UUSU has embarked on an ambitious Strategic Plan and has received considerable extra funding from Ulster University to deliver the plan.
In the video below our President, Kevin McStravock, talks about our Strategic Plan:

Representation &Voice
UUSU Course Representatives, Senor Course Reps and regular student forums ensure a robust academic representation system for Ulster students. This academic representation will be further enhanced with the upcoming completion of the new Staff-Student Partnership Agreement to support the student learning experience at Ulster.
Student Council is the main representative body of students. Student Councils’ elected members come together to discuss issues and concerns of the student body. Council is integral to UUSU as it is responsible for setting policy and the direction of the organisation.
Personal Development and Future
We aim to make our students more employable and to support students’ starting their own business or social enterprise. Our Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Manager has launched a leadership programme to develop student skills. A new job shop will also be introduced soon.We are currently setting up internships within the organisation to further increase students’ employability.
Sports, Societies, Space & Events
UUSU currently funds and assists in the running of over 70 sports clubs and 80 societies. We are also committed to ensuring that our students have dedicated space to study, relax, socialise and play sport. In September 2020 with the move of our Jordanstown students to the new Belfast campus, it is essential we ensure there are affordable commercial services on campus and that student space provides a high quality student experience.
Support
UUSU has had in place a student financial advisor for a number of years. To enhance this financial advice offering the new Director of Membership Services will be establishing and developing an Academic & Welfare service supported by an Advice Centre Manager and two Welfare Advisers.
Governance, People, Finance
UUSU aims to be a financially robust and sustainable charity. Recently UUSU became a limited company by guarantee and we are currently awaiting our charity registration number for Northern Ireland.
End of Year Report
UUSU’s remit of work is wide and far reaching. Our annual End of Year Report (click on image) will give you a flavour of UUSU’s work for last academic year.
