ENABLE Scotland is the largest charity in Scotland dedicated to creating an equal society for every person who has a learning disability. We campaign to improve the lives of people who have a learning disability and support them through our extensive social care and employability services.

Founded in 1954 by the parents of children who had a learning disability, the charity now has 5,000 members, provides support to 2,000 people and has an annual turnover in excess of £31m. Our c.2,000 staff are led by Theresa Shearer, CEO, and we operate in 28 of Scotland's 32 local authority areas.

Board Trustees

The Trustees support and guide the organisation within their corporate governance framework helping ENABLE Scotland to maximise its overall economic performance in order to deliver frontline services and campaign effectively for and on behalf of the membership. Trustees ensure that organisations comply with their legal and regulatory obligations while providing strategic guidance, setting overall policy, defining goals, setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets.

Specific Strengths

We are seeking dynamic Finance & Audit Trustees who are interested in furthering an equal society for adults and children who have learning disabilities in Scotland. We are keen to hear from individuals who have a proven track record and strong experience in finance and audit within a large scale organisation, and ideally with an understanding of social care funding and fundraising governance. By joining our team of trustees, you will help ensure ENABLE Scotland's continuing success in supporting and creating an equal society for people in Scotland who have a learning disability.

Your responsibilities

You will be available to attend approximately 4-6 key meetings per year.

ENABLE Scotland's trustee roles are not remunerated, but we will reimburse expenses incurred in carrying out your duties as a trustee.
