The Role – Divisional Director Neighbourhoods & Sustainability
Location: Glasgow
Salary: £83,708 - £95,232 (LDR3a, Grade 11)
We are looking for an exceptional and experienced individual, with proven business leadership. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the Divisional Director will be responsible for Transport and Neighbourhood Operational Functions. This is an exciting key appointment for the Council in terms of setting future strategy and delivering key Neighbourhood change programmes. You will have a proven ability in challenging existing organisational boundaries and working practices to drive business innovation whilst embracing the parameters of working in a political environment.
This innovative role will contribute to the Council Strategic Plan Theme of A Sustainable Low Carbon City where the city is one that is clean and our public spaces are well-maintained; we have a low carbon footprint as a Council and as a city; we have more sustainable, integrated transport networks across the city, and less congestion; and citizens use active travel, including walking and cycling.
To be ahead of the game we have recently introduced a new ‘Neighbourhoods and Place’ model to facilitate greater management within community planning areas while engaging with external partners to provide tailored operational services that meet the needs of local communities. This new model has initially focussed on operational services to align with other area based council services and promote a ‘One Glasgow’ approach to service delivery and it aims to ensure that the diversity of people and place across the City are engaged with, listened to and get the services they need.
Leading an operational function of over 2,000 FTE, the post holder will lead on the effective and efficient delivery of a diverse range of operational, technical and professional services focussed initially within the operational areas of cleansing, waste, ground maintenance and transport.
