Director of Communications
Salary £57,760 – £67,022 per annum
Fixed term contract – Maternity Cover

Reporting to the Chief Executive, this role will develop and implement HES communications strategy, ensuring a long term sustainable organisation and delivery of an ambitious corporate plan.  This is a high profile communications role with a broad range of responsibilities and several HES functions.

You will provide leadership to the directorate, ensuring its active engagement with the delivery of HES corporate objectives.  You will bring strong leadership and communications skills; fresh thinking and a strong customer and business improvement focus to HES.  You will have demonstrable experience of multichannel communications across often topical, sensitive and political issues.  You will be tenacious and resilient, required to demonstrate exemplary personal judgement, initiative and collaborative skills.

Degree qualified or with senior director level experience of Communications and Marketing, you will have an excellent track record of setting and delivering a communications strategy as well as experience of media handling, analysis, crisis communications, reputation management and corporate PR.  You will have an excellent understanding of digital communications and policy and political issues of the day such as planning and communities through to legislation on GDPR, copyright and licencing.
