North East Scotland College

Rob Wallen,
Principal Designate

Thank you for your interest in the position of Vice Principal Human Resources at North East Scotland College.

This new College will be formed on 01 November 2013 as a result of the merge of Aberdeen College and Banff & Buchan College. It will deliver programmes across the whole of the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire region and attract students from across Scotland and beyond.

The merging colleges have individual track-records of success. A commitment to maintaining the current very high standards of service delivery will be central to the College’s strategy.

The College will enroll over 7000 full-time students every year, as well as many thousands of students on part-time, evening, block-release, distance and work-based programmes. The College will play a key role in underpinning the economy of North East Scotland. Providing training relevant to the needs of the oil and gas sector will be a very important part of the College's activities.

The College will directly employ over 650 staff; in addition over 250 other individuals will work in the College delivering a variety of contracted-out services.

The Vice Principal Human Resources will be one member of a senior management team of seven people. The other six – the Principal, Depute Principal, Vice Principal Curriculum, Vice Principal Finance, Vice Principal Student Services, Vice Principal Organisational Services – have all previously been senior managers in one of the merging colleges.

The person appointed will have excellent knowledge of HR practice, with experience of managing and developing people in a large organisation.

Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire are great places to live and work. North East Scotland College will be ambitious to succeed. The role of Vice Principal Human Resources will be an exciting and varied one.

I will be happy to provide any further information you require, and I look forward to receiving your application.

Yours sincerely
