The Aspen team are ushering in October by taking a moment to reflect upon one of our charitable achievements from the previous month. Like many offices across the UK we rallied together on September the 25th to participate in a Macmillan Coffee Morning, baking (and faking!) an array of treats in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The team are proud to acknowledge that the proceeds of our efforts will directly contribute to the continuation of the charities vital services, providing a network of care that encompasses those living with cancer as well as their families, carers and communities.

Macmillan’s tireless commitment to easing the strain often placed on lives touched by cancer entered its 25th year this November, even more of a reason to celebrate and donate! In 2014 Macmillan invested £151.7 million in their existing services - a 25% increase on 2013. This pledge funnelled £56.9 million into the provision of Health and Social Care Professionals where they are needed most, £15.3 million into emotional support structures including help lines, occupational therapy and counselling, £21.7 million into campaigning and raising awareness of what it truly means to encounter cancer head-on and £26.1 million on information services to ensure individuals facing cancer are fully equipped with the facts, thereby empowering them to make informed decisions about their treatment. These are just some of the services Macmillan drive to deliver with unwavering compassion and professionalism to all those they support.

Their recently launched ‘Not Alone’ campaign aims to underline the essential role they play as a life-line for people tackling the challenges of a cancer diagnosis and their up-coming Volunteer Awards 2016 also highlights a heart-felt recognition of outstanding individuals who have donated not only their money but their time to bettering the lives of others.

The reality is that the essential care Macmillan facilitates is ultimately made possible by public donations, raised through events such as Macmillan Coffee Mornings, sponsored nationwide charity runs and volunteers pounding the pavements with their donation buckets. Aspen are therefore delighted to have taken part in championing their on-going campaign for care, change and continuted success in 2015. We look forward to Macmillan's Coffee Morning 2016!
