The team at Aspen had great pleasure in attending the IoD Scotland Director of the Year Awards last night.  The Awards shine a light on Scotland’s most successful business Directors, Partners, Chairs, NXDs and entrepreneurs from 2015, leading any size of organisation, firm or social enterprise.  Our Managing Director, Ken Dalgleish, was shortlisted for two awards at this prestigious event.

With a key note speech by the Deputy First Minister, Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Constitution and Economy John Swinney MSP, the event celebrated success, recognising those directors and leaders who have had the confidence to make bold decisions in the face of uncertainty, carefully weighing up the risks and believing in their own vision and leadership skills to see a project through that will place their organisation in a stronger and more sustainable position.  As leaders of teams and specialists in their field, these individuals drive and grow some of Scotland’s most successful companies, providing employment and support for communities alongside their services or products.  Most importantly, these set the example for those that aspire to follow in their footsteps – the future generation of leaders.

Despite Ken not being successful, the event was most enjoyable and we would like to congratulate on the winners on the night!

David Watt, Executive Director of the Institute of Directors in Scotland, commented:

“We have been very impressed with the accomplishments of this year’s nominees and winners. We are also very proud to note that, for the first time, more than half of the winners are female directors – evidence that balance is translating to Scottish boardrooms.  That said, every winners’ story is an example of excellence in directorship that IoD Scotland applauds.

What all winners have in common this year is vision and strong leadership, and the ability to recognise that any business is only as good as the capable and committed people who have the passion to make it succeed.”
