Following a recent recruitment campaign with Aspen, Big Lottery Fund have now appointed Martin Cawley from Turning Point Scotland as their new Scotland Director. Martin will replace Jackie Killeen who has been in the post since 2011.

The Big Lottery Fund supports people and communities across the UK. They will be distributing over £750 million of National Lottery money across the UK in 2016, working to enhance and transform communities and lives by funding health, education, environment and charity projects. The Big Lottery Fund in Scotland assesses and manages a portfolio of grants with an annual funding allocation of around £70million per annum. They aim to be a good partner in Scotland – attuned and relevant to communities, prepared and able to co-operate with others and innovative where there is an opportunity to make resources go further or achieve more. They want to do all we can to help communities and organisations to be successful so in addition to funding they offer access to specialist expertise in areas such as business and financial planning, long-term relationships, and a committed, experienced and talented team. More information on the organisation can be found at

Martin will be responsible for the development of the Scottish funding portfolio and contribute to Big Lottery Fund’s collective vision for People in the Lead as a member of the UK-wide Senior Management Team. We have no doubt that he will provide strong and strategic leadership for the Big Lottery Fund in Scotland – Martin has demonstrated a genuine commitment to bringing real improvements to communities, and to the lives of people most in need.

Martin said of his appointment:

‘I am honoured to be offered such a high profile and important job in Scotland.  The Big Lottery Fund is a key player in the civil society across the UK and its reach is unrivalled.  The diversity, range and number of innovative projects and initiatives it has funded over the years have had such a positive impact on ordinary people's lives.  I am delighted to be joining the organisation at this time and very much look forward to the exciting challenges and opportunities which lie ahead.’

We very much enjoyed working with Big Lottery Fund and would like to wish both them and Martin all the best for the future.
