As part of our commitment to Higher and Further Education, Aspen were keen to attend the Universities Human Resources Conference and Exhibition this year.

The 2017 Conference took place in Newcastle and had an exciting line up of speakers, workshops and legal sessions. With over 35 exhibitors and sponsors from across the sector on hand to offer useful advice and services throughout the event, and afterwards, there was lots of information and knowledge shared.

The Conference theme was “All things to all people: what are universities for?” and topics of discussion included how HR supports university institutions to address a changing and sometimes paradoxical environment, how we can embrace the opportunities and address the tensions between strategic objectives of multiplier stakeholders including students.

Ken and Donogh enjoyed their time at the Conference and were glad to have the opportunity to consider these challenging questions and the implications for people management and HR functions within Higher Education.
