ASPEN DIRECTORS ATTEND GLASGOW TALKS...WITH SIR BRIAN SOUTER

As members of the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, Ken Dalgleish and Nigel Fortnum attended the “Glasgow Talks...with Brian Souter” event at the Blythswood Square Hotel, Glasgow on Wednesday 12th June 2013.

Sir Brian is one of the UK's leading entrepreneurs and transport innovators. He is the co-founder of Stagecoach Group, the international public transport operator, which runs some of the UK's most recognised transport brands and is a market leader in delivering greener, smarter travel.

Sir Brian is the architect of the company's strategy and philosophy. Along with his sister, Ann Gloag, he founded the company in Perth in 1980 with just two buses. His vision, entrepreneurial flair and innovative ideas have transformed Stagecoach into an international market-leading business.

Sir Brian spoke of how Stagecoach uses technology and is a firm believer that the telephone is still the best method of selling and that we cannot afford to ignore the rise of social media marketing.

One of the key quotes from his talk was on the current state of the UK economy which he declared as a;

“Zombie economy, but not as big a zombie as others”

All members of the team at Aspen enjoy keeping up to date with news from the political, economical and social environments whether they attend such talks such as this, read the many specialist journals we subscribe to or review news online.
