Director of Policy, Analysis and Standards

The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) is the national qualifications, accreditation and awarding body in Scotland.  As an Executive NDPB, we are accountable to Scottish Ministers. We help people across Scotland and beyond realise their potential and achieve their ambitions by providing a wide range of high quality, internationally recognised qualifications and associated services.  SQA supports schools, colleges, universities and training organisations to develop and deliver their qualifications and assessments.

As well as providing learning for others, SQA is looking to evolve and develop our thinking capacity. We are now looking to appoint an individual into this newly created role of Director of Policy, Analysis and Standards.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will be a key part of the dynamic Executive Management team, contributing to the overall strategic development and direction of SQA. The role is responsible for leading the research on design, assessment and quality assurance of qualifications, ensuring a highly effective, centralised research and data service is provided across the organisation. You will develop the use of research, analytics and statistics, and lead on standards setting and maintenance, encouraging the highest standard of quality across SQA qualifications and services.

We are looking for a highly experienced and proactive leader. You will be an influencer with strong stakeholder management skills, capable of representing the SQA and promoting our qualifications and services. The successful individual should have experience at a senior level, a track record in stakeholder engagement and experience of undertaking or managing a research or analytical function. The individual should take an evidence-based approach to decision-making. An understanding of Education or Skills is beneficial, but it isn’t essential.
