We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to join our friendly team of consultant histopathologists. Successful candidates will be able to report cases from a wide range of General Surgical Pathology practice, although a degree of subspecialisation has also been introduced.

Candidates who have already developed a subspecialist interest are welcome, as are individuals who wish to retain a more generalist approach. Development of areas of specialist interest is encouraged.

The role includes:

• Contribution to a consultant-led Histopathology service
• Participation in multi-disciplinary team meetings
• Optional support for provision of mortuary and post-mortem services
• Ensuring that the service continues to meet UKAS/CPA standards

Our service has a reputation for being innovative and forward thinking. The post will appeal to suitably qualified persons who are enthusiastic and are looking for a stimulating and challenging career.

We offer a professional environment where staff are encouraged and supported to develop a safe, effective and high quality service that is patient focused.

We welcome applications from candidates who would wish to work less than full time. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Organisation in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Candidates for the post must hold Full GMC Registration with a current Licence to Practice, and be on the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of Higher Specialist Training in Histopathology leading to CCT, or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Non UK applicants will be required to demonstrate equivalent training. It is also expected that the appointee will hold the FRCPath or show evidence of equivalent training and experience.

For a confidential discussion about the role please contact Lorraine Porteous on 0141 212 7555.
