Dear Applicant

Appointment of Chief Executive Officer, West of Scotland Housing Association (WSHA)

I’m delighted that you’re interested in applying for this leadership post within West of Scotland Housing Association.

West of Scotland Housing Association (WSHA) has been building homes and delivering key housing services to our tenants and owner occupiers for over 50 years. We put customers at the heart of everything we do. We do this by listening to their views and caring about what matters to them.

We have built a strong reputation for going further to provide excellent services and working with our people to help them realise their true potential and achieve their aspirations. We provide around 3,500 tenanted homes and over 400 owner occupied homes across the West of Scotland and will create 500 new homes, including Passivhaus and mid-market rent, by 2021.

We have a clear and ambitious five year Corporate Plan which was shaped by the views of our staff, tenants and Board. Our Chief Executive Officer will motivate and empower staff to deliver our strategic objectives.

A community to us is more than just building and managing affordable homes; it is about creating safe, socially inclusive, thriving, vibrant communities where tenants want to live. Our strong social conscience is also reflected in our work with our charitable subsidiary, Willowacre Trust, which provides a range of additional community and support services which impact on the lives of WSHA tenants and communities.

Our Board is made up of strong, dedicated and inspirational people who are extremely positive about our future. They understand the value our customers place on us providing good quality homes and delivering an excellent repair and maintenance service, they are also strong supporters of our growth aspirations but they realise there is more we can so to make a positive impact on people’s lives and are therefore very supportive of our sustainable communities agenda.

Feedback from tenants and staff has helped us to identify some of the key skills and experience the ideal candidate will have. This includes an understanding of housing and good governance, experience of financial and budgetary control as well as an open, positive approach and strong leadership skills.

As we look to the future we are looking for a strong and inspirational leader to help us build on our successes and take an innovative approach when providing homes and services that help individuals and communities thrive.
