Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL) are the leading provider of airport operations in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, and we’re very proud of our reputation for safety, quality and cost effective delivery of services. We work closely with the communities that we serve and employ over 600 staff across 12 sites.

This is an exciting time to be joining us as we make significant investment in the company. We have recently received a significant capital budget from Scottish Government to spend over the next two years and have an ambitious programme of projects to progress to improve our infrastructure.  These range from runway resurfacing to improving our IT infrastructure and improving our security and baggage handling. We have a vision which identifies the operational and business objectives over the next 3 – 5 years – this includes delivering on our Air Traffic Management Strategy programme which will see a complete transformation to the way in which we deliver air traffic control across the Highlands and Islands and Dundee.

We’re therefore looking to fill the following positions:

  • Chief Operating Officer

The role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a new role within the company and has been created to help us deliver the ambitious new strategy that we are about to launch setting out our vision and priorities to 2025.

We are looking for an individual with a proven track record who can drive and deliver our plans as well as support the cultural change needed to transform the company to meet future demands and expectations of our customers.

As part of our strategy we are also working to deliver a transformation programme in Air Traffic Management.  Introducing Remote Tower technology and Centralised Surveillance will allow us to completely change the way in which we deliver Air Traffic Management and future proof the services for the remote and fragile communities where we deliver life line services.

We have set ourselves bold targets for business and route development, whilst at the same aiming to improve our customer service experience and our target is to be the best in Customer Service Delivery in the Airport Service Quality standards.

Sitting alongside this we are also committed to the environment through our new Environmental Strategy, sustainable financial growth through route development and securing sufficient capital funding from Scottish Government to maintain a vast operational infrastructure across eleven aerodromes.

  • Procurement Manager - 2 Year Fixed Term Contract

We are looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to join our team to provide resilience to the Procurement team and the reassurance to our Senior Management Team that our projects will be delivered on time and within budget. You’ll support and enable our local managers across the 12 sites to initiate projects and ensure we adhere to relevant legislation and internal procedures. In this role you will support organisational transformation to achieve our strategic objectives.

This role offers a rewarding career opportunity and we are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate significant experience in a procurement role as well as the ability to work in partnership with other professionals across a geographically dispersed and complex organisation.

  • Project Manager

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to work with the company to improve our Project Governance structures, to streamline our processes and provide the reassurance to our Senior Management Team that our projects will be delivered in time and within budget. You’ll support and enable our local managers across the 12 sites to manage projects and to respond to changing needs or circumstances as projects develop.  In this role you will support organisational transformation to achieve our strategic objectives.
