Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL) are the leading provider of airport operations in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, and we’re very proud of our reputation for safety, quality and cost effective delivery of services. We work closely with the communities that we serve and employ over 600 staff across 12 sites.

This is an exciting time to be joining us as we make significant investment in the company. We have recently received a significant capital budget from Scottish Government to spend over the next two years and have an ambitious programme of projects to progress to improve our infrastructure.  These range from runway resurfacing to improving our IT infrastructure and improving our security and baggage handling. We have a vision which identifies the operational and business objectives over the next 3 – 5 years – this includes delivering on our Air Traffic Management Strategy programme which will see a complete transformation to the way in which we deliver air traffic control across the Highlands and Islands and Dundee.

We’re therefore looking to fill the position of Finance and Commercial Director. This position is a newly expanded role and will be a key member of the senior leadership team and central to our vision and the associated operational and business objectives. The post holder is responsible for the development and implementation of Finance and Commercial strategy, linked to our business strategy, facilitating improvement in all operational and commercial areas of the business.

We are looking for an individual with a proven track record in financial strategy and business growth who can drive and deliver our plans as well as support the cultural change needed to transform the company as set out in our ambitious new strategy setting out our vision and priorities to 2025. The Finance and Commercial Director will contribute to the development of corporate plans in support of the various strategic priorities.

As part of our strategy we are also working to deliver a transformation programme in Air Traffic Management. Introducing Remote Tower technology and Centralised Surveillance will allow us to completely change the way in which we deliver Air Traffic Management and future proof the services for the remote and fragile communities where we deliver life line services.

We have set ourselves bold targets for business and route development, whilst at the same time aiming to improve our customer service experience, and our target is to be the best in Customer Service Delivery in the Airport Service Quality standards.

Sitting alongside this we are also committed to the environment through our new Environmental Strategy, sustainable financial growth through route development and securing sufficient capital funding from Scottish Government to maintain a vast operational infrastructure across eleven aerodromes.
