Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of Abertay University’s Court. Through this site, I trust we will provide a picture of Abertay University and the contribution that our governors make tothe University’s success.
Good governance is crucial to the success of all organisations, including universities, and at Abertay we are looking to appoint up to five new independent (lay) members of Court. Universities make a substantial contribution to the Scottish economy, to society in general and to the education and personal development of those of all ages who nowadays participate in higher education. They are interesting and complex institutions whose governance requires committed individuals from diverse backgrounds who are able to offer expertise and experience acquired in a wide range of roles, whether in business and commerce, the voluntary sector, local government, or the wider public sector.
Our aim is to appoint members of Court who will make a broad contribution to the governance of the University, including through membership of our key committees. Being a member of Court is a voluntary role which I am sure you would find stimulating and personally rewarding, offering as it does the opportunity to work with other committed people to oversee strategy development and implementation, to ensure sustainability through the effective stewardship of resources, and to contribute to a positive experience for students and staff.
