The Role: Scotland Director
Location: Glasgow
Salary: £75,000-80,000 plus pension
As part of the UK-wide Senior Management Team (SMT) you will lead and be accountable for the operational success and good reputation of the organisation. The successful candidate will lead and represent the Fund in Scotland in a way that is both relevant to the specific devolved context and compatible with our UK-wide strategies, contributing to the direction of the Fund. He / she will also lead on the development and delivery of a coherent country funding portfolio; be responsible for the effectiveness and efficiency of current and future country funding programmes and be a focal point for engagement with the Country Committee.
You will be excited by the Fund’s purpose and this rare opportunity to join the organisation and influence improvements to people’s lives in Scotland and beyond. Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will be responsible for the development of the Scottish funding portfolio and contribute to corporate strategic initiatives, helping shape the UK-wide strategy and systems within which the organisation operates.
Leading a senior management team that delivers day-to-day operations in Scotland, you will have the ability to inspire and motivate a large team and have knowledge of the environment that will inform decision making so that allocated funds have an impact at local level and more broadly. Outstanding analytical and communications skills will be essential to ensure the effective delivery of high quality grant assessment and management.
A strategic thinker and persuasive negotiator, you will be someone who understands the devolved nature of the country’s political landscape and are able to exercise sensitive judgement in response. It will be essential to hold the respect of Trustees, colleagues, external managers and advisers to demonstrate a genuine commitment to bringing real improvements to communities, and to the lives of people most in need.
