Director of Enterprise and Knowledge Exchange

Welcome to Edinburgh College, one of Scotland’s largest colleges, and thank you for your interest in our new role of Director of Enterprise and Knowledge Exchange.

As Scotland’s Capital College we cover a vast region spanning Edinburgh City, East Lothian, and Midlothian – a population which is around 750,000 people – as such our responsibility, reach and impact is significant.

We deeply value our local communities and the businesses which we serve from four main campuses located across the city in Granton, Sighthill, Dalkeith and Milton Road.

We currently support over 2,000 businesses in our region and we have over 1,500 apprentices studying with us this year.

Our College also boasts one of the largest international profiles of any college, operating in five continents across the globe.

We are an ambitious College and we are committed to being bold, to taking a lead where we can to influence, collaborate and be at the forefront of shaping the future of the entire college sector.

We talk and think a lot about our future at the College. Future proofing our College so that we never stand still, but constantly drive to improve, innovate, be agile and able to adapt.

The person successfully appointed as Director of Enterprise and Knowledge Exchange will join our Senior Management team and will be required to create an environment in which your team will flourish, talent will emerge, and we get the very best out of our most valuable asset – our people.

The role also requires an individual who has the ability, drive, influence and emotional intelligence to lead externally, to quickly gain the respect of a wide and diverse range of stakeholders, take people – both inside and external to the college – with them and realise your ambitions.

The role of colleges has never been more important. Consider the challenges we face in terms of economic recovery, societal inequalities becoming greater, how we meet the Climate Challenge and reach Net Zero.

This role has the responsibility to drive and lead these aspects of our work which are becoming more vital, of greater strategic importance and fundamental to our growth ambitions.

We strive to provide excellent business support to ensure the businesses in our region are competitive. We aim to innovate and help others to innovate too.

As a member of the Senior Management team, the Director of Enterprise and Knowledge Exchange will be responsible for growing and diversifying income streams through expanding commercial, international and partnership opportunities and knowledge exchange opportunities.
