Director for Scotland
The Director for Scotland plays a pivotal role in the British Red Cross, leading the organisation’s work in Scotland. As the most senior role representing the British Red Cross in Scotland, they are responsible for advocating for the organisation with the most senior stakeholders in health and government as well as overseeing the strategic development and operational delivery of health and local crisis response services across the nation. Additionally, they will oversee an influencing strategy with other counterpart charity organisations in Scotland.
The Director for Scotland forms part of a wider network of directors across the four nations of the UK, who work collaboratively, whilst retaining their own delegated autonomy in Scotland. This includes providing leadership and coordination support to other BRC service lines operating within Scotland who are managed directly through business units such as Mobility Aids and Refugee Services. They will pull together the Scotland leadership team to ensure our humanitarian focus is coordinated to drive maximum value for Scottish communities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background within either the health sector or the third sector and have operated at senior management level for several years. They will share the same passion and purpose for supporting others in times of crisis that the BRC does. They will be determined to drive forward change which meets the unique needs of the communities in Scotland that we serve, they work closely with key stakeholders, and they will have experience at a senior level of negotiating and working on partnerships with stakeholders across government and the third sector. Supporting the wider Scotland team, they will demonstrate impeccable leadership qualities and ability to lead from a remote distance.
