Welcome
Dear Candidate,
Thank you for clicking through to discover more about this role and to learn more about the work we do. I’m Stephanie Fraser, the CEO of Cerebral Palsy Scotland and I can honestly say it’s the best place I have ever worked.
Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common cause of childhood disability in the world. It is a lifelong condition. In Scotland there is a gap in knowledge, information and provision of services for the many people who live with CP and their families. Cerebral Palsy Scotland seeks to close this gap and provide services that help people with CP build skills, knowledge, confidence and relationships and make the most of their abilities.
We are really lucky to be based in our own centre in Glasgow. Every day we meet our beneficiaries as they come in for specialist therapy, baby groups and social events. We don’t just focus on the person with CP, we include their families, carers and the professionals who support them. We work all over Scotland, we bring our community together and we work with partners to ensure the changes we make and advocate for are sustainable, beyond our input. Because we know our community, we see the positive difference we make to the lives of people with CP, we watch children grow up and adults achieve goals they did not think were possible.
We are a small and committed team. We like birthday cakes and coffee (other beverages are available) and we are always looking for better ways that we can support each other so that we continue to make a difference for our beneficiaries. We are ambitious for people with CP and we are ambitious for our organisation.
I am delighted you have requested a copy of our applicant pack for the key role as our Head of Fundraising and Communications. You will be joining our Senior Leadership Team, alongside me and our Centre Manager at a key moment as we begin to craft our future strategy. You will have the opportunity to influence what we do and how we do it. We apply an agile mind to our development, we are happy to try things, see if they work and move on and re-set if they don’t. If you find this exciting, we’d love you to become part of our team.
This is a key appointment for us. We hope you will be as enthusiastic as we are about the work that we do. I knew very little about cerebral palsy when I joined the organisation in 2012, but have grown to become passionate about advocating for a population that are just too often ignored or told to put up with things. I am looking to pass on my passion to you. If you are ambitious, creative, dynamic about fundraising, I guarantee you will find a truly rewarding role with us.
Please feel free to ask us anything you would like to know more about. We look forward to hearing from you and the possibilities the future will bring.
With best wishes
Stephanie
