Glasgow Life - Vice Chair

Welcome

Why Glasgow life?

We’re seeking to recruit a new Vice-Chair at Glasgow Life to help shape the future of one of Scotland’s most dynamic and ambitious charities.

Bursting with energy, passion and personality, Glasgow is Scotland’s cultural powerhouse and one of Europe’s most vibrant and dynamic cities.

One of Scotland’s largest charities, Glasgow Life is at the heart of transforming lives and communities across the whole city as well as promoting Glasgow to a global audience.  With more than 2,500 dedicated staff and 1,900 volunteers, we are looking for a Vice-Chair who will be a powerful advocate for the role Glasgow Life plays in delivering against Scotland’s cultural, social and economic priorities.

Glasgow is a UNESCO City of Music and we’re home to world-class museums, arts spaces and a rich architectural heritage. Our outstanding events and festivals are recognised globally and we’re a first-choice tourism destination.

Our reputation for hosting major national and international events, and our network of world class sporting facilities, led to delivery of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, following what was termed “The Best Games Ever” in 2014.  As only the third city in history to host the Games twice, Glasgow brings deep experience and unmistakable character to this global moment.

Glasgow Life’s passionate staff and volunteers provide the support, inspiration and opportunity for Glaswegians to access the services that matter most to them. Working across museums, the arts, music, libraries, community facilities, learning and heritage programmes as well as sport and physical activity, events and festivals; the scale and reach of our activity makes a real and positive impact on the lives of Glasgow’s residents as well as creating unforgettable experiences for visitors.

We manage an extensive portfolio of iconic and diverse venues across the city, from Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, and the Riverside Museum to The Mitchell Library; the Glasgow International Arena; the Burrell Collection; Kelvin Hall; Glasgow Royal Concert Hall; Tramway and the Glasgow Club, Scotland’s largest health and fitness network.

We want the people of Glasgow to experience the positive and life-changing benefits of participating in culture and sport at all levels, from sessions in local communities to large-scale events which present Glasgow on an international stage.
