About Us
Live Borders is the leisure, sport and cultural trust of the Scottish Borders, working in partnership with Scottish Borders Council (SBC).
The Trust delivers services and programmes across the Scottish Borders area from a network of leisure, cultural and community facilities, as well as operating a range of physical activity and health related programmes within community settings.
We are a private company limited by guarantee without share capital and a registered charity with the Scottish Charity Regulator. Every penny spent with Live Borders is reinvested into supporting active, creative and healthy communities in the Scottish Borders.
Live Borders is currently facing significant challenges due to financial constraints, aging infrastructure, and shifting community needs. The economic pressures following the pandemic, combined with rising energy costs and the push towards achieving net zero, have placed considerable strain on the financial sustainability of services provided across the Borders area, coupled with an extensive portfolio of sporting, cultural, and community facilities, many of which require significant maintenance and investment to remain viable.
This is therefore a crucial time for the organisation, as the ongoing joint transformational change programme with Scottish Borders Council aims to deliver high quality sport, leisure and cultural services through a financially sustainable and high performing partnership.
New, Borders-wide sport and physical activity and culture strategies are also set to be put in place this year, with Live Borders playing an important role across both sectors in helping to deliver on the vision and aims of the strategies.
