A major part of the work of the Trust is its support of young people through the Robertson Scholarship. Over recent years this has increased dramatically due to new strategic initiatives. This work has now developed to such an extent that the trustees feel that a new role is required to lead this area of work and develop it further. To date the Director has led on the strategic element of the work but is now keen to hand this over to the newly created role of Head of Scholarship.
The ideal candidate should have deep experience of the Widening Access landscape in Scotland. They should be well connected in the University and College sectors and should understand the policy landscape affecting education in Scotland.
Experience of dealing with policy makers is critical as the role will involve presenting evidence to decision makers with the aim of changing the policy landscape.
The preferred candidate will have a good understanding of the HE, FE and Educational sectors in Scotland. They will also have experience of working at Board level within their current organisation.
