About us

Who we are

We are the national charity for older people. We work to improve the lives of people over 50 and to promote their rights and interests.

Our mission is to make Scotland the best place in the world to grow older. Our values are to inspire, involve and empower older people in Scotland and to influence others so that people can enjoy better later lives.

You can find out more about what we do by watching our Age Scotland video here.

Our impact

We are proud of what we have achieved so far as a charity.  In 2021, despite the ongoing challenge of the Covid-19 pandemic, we were able to grow and develop our support to older people, their families and carers.

Our helpline handled over 27,000 calls and many of our services expanded to allow us to be there for older people in need of information, advice, support and friendship.

You can find out more about what we achieved in 2021 and our big ambitions for the years ahead in our impact report here.

Our strategy

Our 2022-25 strategy is called No Time To Lose because we know from our conversations with older people and their families and carers, that action is needed now more than ever.

Informed by the experiences of the people we support and the knowledge of our teams who engage with older people day in day out, we have set out eight key ambitions which we want to achieve in the next three years.

You can read about our strategy here.

Our people

Age Scotland is committed to ensuring that Scotland becomes the best place in the world to grow older, but we can’t do that alone. It is only with the support of our staff, volunteers, members, supporters, funders and partners that we can achieve our vision and continue to tackle the challenges and inequalities that older people face.
