Chief Executive

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the role of Chief Executive of Changeworks. I hope that you will find this recruitment pack informative and that it encourages you to apply for this unique opportunity.

The climate emergency is the biggest threat facing humanity. The position of Chief Executive of Changeworks would present you with a significant leadership opportunity to drive the reduction of carbon emissions in Scotland.

The Scottish Government has set targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 75% by 2030. This will require one million homes in Scotland to convert to low-carbon heating systems by 2030 and the energy efficiency of these and many more homes to be improved.

At the same time, the cost-of-living crisis, and in particular high energy costs, will result in rising levels of fuel poverty. Radical action will be required to hit the Scottish Government target of only 15% of households in Scotland living in fuel poverty by 2030. That’s where Changeworks come in.

Changeworks has been leading the way in delivering high impact solutions for low-carbon living for over 35 years. We work for a positive low-carbon reality for everyone, ensuring a just transition for all toward a green economy and society. Tackling inequalities is core to this mission, and we are on a journey to deliver more affordable, warmer, decarbonised homes.

Our current Chief Executive, Teresa Bray, is retiring after 14 years in the role.  During her stewardship the organisation has quadrupled in size.  We are planning for even more ambitious growth in the coming years to address the scale of the climate emergency and need an exceptional Chief Executive to drive the organisation forward.

We are seeking a dynamic, value driven individual, to lead Changeworks in the coming years. The challenges ahead will require new approaches and entrepreneurial flair plus the ability to build strong partnerships. You will have a strong track record in senior management with commercial acumen and a robust approach to risk management. A track record of delivering growth, organisational transformation and change is required.    As the public voice of Changeworks you will be comfortable operating at a national level, bringing the skills and expertise to a wider audience.

You will enjoy being part of a diverse and talented organisation with high expectations, both in terms of impact and staff well-being.  Changeworks has a clear strategy and a strong staff team with breadth and depth in leadership, management, technical skills and delivery looking forward to the challenges ahead. Our robust financial position allows us to invest in further development. Full support will be provided by the experienced and diverse Board.

Changeworks is not a typical third sector organisation and recognises that successful candidates may come from a range of different backgrounds.

If you are inspired by the opportunity to make a real difference please get in touch with Kate Kennedy or Debbie Shiels, Aspen People for a confidential chat on 0141 212 7555.

I look forward to meeting you during the selection process.
