About Seamab

Seamab is a registered Scottish Charity established in 1988, providing primary and secondary school education and care to 25 children and young people from all over Scotland who have social, emotional and behavioural challenges. Our vision is that all children and young people are loved and respected, that they enjoy their childhood and achieve their full potential.

Based near Rumbling Bridge in Kinross-shire, we operate a school and residential homes for the children we support 52 weeks of the year.  At present, we have three houses within our care campus and one service which is situated in a small village near Linlithgow. We deliver education from our school in Rumbling Bridge and have exciting plans to create a new fit-for-purpose school on our existing site, starting in 2024.

At Seamab, we believe that all children and young children deserve the best chance to grow, develop and thrive. We create environments that empower the children and young people in our care to develop their social, emotional and independence skills that prepare them for the future. Our children benefit from therapeutically-informed care underpinned by resilience, nurture and attachment theories. This foundation provides an understanding of the challenges being faced by our children and young people, enabling us to create a secure base where children can feel safe and learn, grown and develop in an environment that places their needs at the centre.

At Seamab, we are committed to our children feeling they can live here for a long time without having to experience too many additional transitions. Our new older age group service opened in June 2023 and is designed to house four children who can live with us until they are 18 years old. We provide this new service in line with the aspirations of the The Promise: “Scotland must limit the number of transitions for children.” (The Promise, 2020).

Seamab is a special and safe place for children who have experienced a great deal of difficulties and trauma within their early years.  The strength of our Trustees is paramount in supporting the Leadership Team in delivering our vision for Seamab and the children we educate and support.
