Consumer Panel Members

About

The Consumer Panel is a small specialist group of independent experts who bring deep consumer expertise, insights and skills to improve the experience of legal services consumers.

For more than ten years, the Panel has helped shape how the sector thinks about accessibility, vulnerability and fairness in the legal complaints system and across legal services.

The Panel acts as a critical friend to the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission (SLCC) and the wider regulatory system, providing expert advice to make sure that the consumer interest is central to policies, processes and decisions.

It does that by drawing on evidence and expert knowledge to highlight what people need from legal services. It commissions research to understand real‑world experiences. And it uses its collective voice to keep consumers firmly at the heart of regulation.

By sharing consumer-led intelligence and expertise, the Consumer Panel is a critical source of independent, trusted consumer-focused input.

Now new legislation is reshaping legal services regulation and expanding the Panel’s role across the whole system. The Panel will be central to making sure these reforms reflect the real experiences of consumers.

The Panel operates independently in its advocacy but is resourced and supported by the SLCC.
