Gateshead College was established in the 1950s as a vocational and technical college. Our purpose was to give people the practical, vocational skills relevant to local businesses and we set up what was one of the first Apprenticeship schemes of its kind in partnership with Sigmund Pumps.
Much time has passed but our core purpose remains the same; to not only prepare students for work but to ensure they are the most highly prized in the jobs market.
Our approach is based on a number of principles:
