The SLCC are seeking dynamic and motivational leaders to join our small senior management team. This is a great opportunity to make real impact and bring strategic leadership to issues of national importance.

The SLCC is an independent statutory body providing a single point of contact for all complaints against legal practitioners operating in Scotland. Operating independently of the legal profession and government, the SLCC aims to resolve complaints early and efficiently, improving complaints handling across the profession with the ultimate aim of improving trust and confidence in Scottish legal services.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Director of Public Policy will be responsible for ensuring we have a deep understanding of our consumers, our external environment and stakeholders. You will ensure that we learn from our data and from best practice, that we communicate effectively, and that we strategically influence the sector and policy makers. The role has responsibility for policy, communications, stakeholder management, publications, outreach, and ‘oversight’ functions.

We are seeking an individual with a proven track record of developing and delivering national policy and legislative change. The post-holder will have proven influencing and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage at government level. You will have excellent leadership and communication skills and be able to produce clear professional documentation on complex matters and work with influencers at the most senior level.

Most importantly, we are seeking enthusiastic people with the confidence to manage change whilst bringing colleagues with you and demonstrating genuine commitment to our five values.
