Aspen People partnered with Sight Scotland and Sight Scotland Veterans to recruit Trustees.
Sight Scotland and Sight Scotland Veterans are two of Scotland’s oldest and most impactful charities, supporting people of all ages living with sight loss. With a history spanning more than 230 years, the organisations have remained committed to empowering people with visual impairment to live full, confident and independent lives.
At the time of recruitment, the charities provided vital care, education and specialist support services, while also campaigning and carrying out research on behalf of more than 180,000 people across Scotland. Together, Sight Scotland and Sight Scotland Veterans continued to work towards a more inclusive Scotland where people of all visual abilities had the opportunity to thrive.
The Trustee appointments were made at an important stage of growth and change for both organisations. Trustees played a key role in providing effective governance, strategic oversight and independent challenge, supporting the Board and leadership team in shaping the future direction of two charities with a proud heritage and ambitious vision.
The successful candidates brought a commitment to the mission and values of Sight Scotland and Sight Scotland Veterans, alongside the ability to contribute insight, expertise and constructive challenge at Board level.
The Board welcomed applications from a wide range of backgrounds and particularly sought individuals with experience in areas including digital transformation and cyber security, risk and assurance, business development and fundraising, property and estates, medical research, service delivery, social care, education, human resources, remuneration and appointments.
Lived experience of sight loss, or an armed forces background either directly or through a family connection, was welcomed as part of the Board’s commitment to broad representation and diverse perspectives.
