Historic Environment Scotland is a new organisation and will be the lead body for the historic environment in Scotland, working within the new Historic Environment Strategy “Our Place in Time” and impacting positively on all communities within Scotland.

This is a unique opportunity to be involved in the earliest stages of the new organisation which will play a lead role in shaping the historic environment in Scotland, and in the lives of Scottish people and visitors alike, for decades to come.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing an organisation of comparable scale, together with experience of major organisational development, and in leading cultural change. You will also have significant experience of building effective partnerships and relationships to deliver services for the benefit of the public.

Knowledge of the heritage sector and of working within the Scottish public landscape would be desirable, as would be experience of major capital programmes.
