Financial Controller

The University Finance team are seeking to appoint a highly competent qualified accountant with strong management experience in complex working environments.  The role of Financial Controller will report to and support the Chief Financial Officer to deliver in the area of financial and statutory accounting & reporting. The Financial Controller leads and motivates the Treasury, Payroll, Operational Services (AP & AR) and Procurement teams with 3 direct reports and c.25 staff under them. As a key member of the finance leadership team, they will take responsibility for this remit, providing support to the CFO where necessary and attending finance committee meetings for the board.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent) with demonstrable strong technical financial accounting and tax knowledge and experience in preparing consolidated financial statements. You will be commercially sound with experience of working in a large and complex organisation with a strong track record in delivering process and system improvements. Candidates with experience of ERP systems would be ideal. The University is seeking an individual with strong leadership skills, who can build and maintain cross organisational relationships.
