Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) owns the ferries, ports and harbours necessary for vital ferry services serving the West Coast of Scotland and the Clyde Estuary. They aim to provide efficient, cost effective and safe vessels, harbours and associated port infrastructure for operators, communities and users in and around Scotland.

Due to retirement, CMAL are looking to recruit a new Financial Controller. Reporting to the Finance Director, this is a very exciting role; if you enjoy the maritime sector and the beautiful scenery of Scotland, then this will be the ideal role for you.

The purpose of this role will be to successfully lead a small Finance Team to provide the company with financial support to enable it to fulfil its key aims and objectives. The Financial Controller will also provide guidance to the senior management team and CMAL staff by providing them with financial management information and analysis for decision making. In addition, the Financial Controller will require to ensure that the company complies with all the financial statutory requirements.

The role will require a qualified Chartered Accountant with at least 10 year’s relevant experience in a similar company. The ideal candidate will have experience of preparing Statutory Accounts under International Financial Accounting Standards (IFRS) with demonstrable experience in accounting for fixed assets and large projects as CMAL’s business is building ships and major harbour infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will possess excellent skills in budgeting, forecasting, cash forecasting and scenario planning for the investment decision making process. CMAL is a member of the CALMAC, MNOPF and MNRPF pension schemes so experience of accounting for pensions and their administration would be a requirement.
