An exciting opportunity has become available for a technically strong Financial Reporting Manager within an ambitious and expanding company based in Perthshire. Operating in the utilities sector (non-household water retail), our client has rapidly become established as a major player in its sector through organic growth and acquisitions to reach turnover in excess of £400m. As part of a large and established finance team, this newly created role will be central to the achievement of the company’s exciting expansion plans for 2022 and beyond.
Role responsibilities:
- Preparation of all group financial statements and required disclosures for both internal and external presentation, comprising the annual report, half-yearly equivalent and monthly results for the Board of Directors.
- Review and scrutiny of monthly results and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial statements.
- Performance of monthly consolidations.
- Development of monthly management reporting and consolidation process to ensure full consistency with the statutory requirements applicable to annual and half yearly results.
- Acting as a key technical accounting and policy advisor to the Group Chief Accountant and CFO, producing relevant supporting papers.
- Supporting accounting and reporting requirements for complex projects including acquisitions, restructuring, refinancing and the associated due diligence.
- Liaison with external auditors.
- Compilation and provision of information for Tax Advisor.
- Continual review, improvement and documentation of Group accounting policies with supporting analysis of impacts where required.
Candidate requirements:
- ACA qualified (or equivalent).
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience.
- Experience of IFRS financial reporting for a group and the disclosure requirements of a listed plc.
- Ability to plan own workload and coordinate colleagues in order to meet strict deadlines.
- An energetic team player.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Sector/industry experience preferred but not essential.
